Week 7
Poetry week! This week we have explored poems! We have listened to lot sof different poems this week. We LOVED the poem 'Chocolate Cake' by Michael Rosen. Our Year 1 children have created their own colour poems.
Week 6
Our caterpillars have become butterflies! We have taken care of them this week. We have given them oranges and apples to eat and sugar water to drink. We have watched them carefully as they have dried their wings and fluttered around their net. We decided that it was time to release them. We took them onto the field and released them, but not before they had a sit on Miss Olive's finger and we were able to look at them really closely before they flew away!
Week 5
Our caterpillars are now in their cocoons!
Our focus for maths this week has been additions within ten. We have been exploring additions using lots of counting resources. We have been playing counting games with adults.
We have created a whole class natural art project this week! It started to rain but the children were not deterred by this and carried on creating their piece of art!

We have been loving our art topic and this week we have continued to create our landscape art outside.
Week 2

Week 1 - Life Cycles
Welcome back Class 1. We hope you all had a wonderful Easter Holiday. This week our story of the week has been 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' and lots of children have been creating story maps. In our science lesson we are thinking of the question 'How do things grow?' and looking at the life cycle of a butterfly. We had a special delivery of 5 caterpillars! They have already grown and the children are very excited to see them grown and turn into butterflies.
In Maths we have been focusing on numbers 0 - 20. We are working on counting and recognising numbers 0 - 20.
All the children in Class 1 have started their phonics lessons in their new groups. If you have any questions about your child's phonics and reading please speak to Miss Olive.
