Summer Term 2

Week 4 - Transition week

This week, we asked 'What would I look like in a portrait by a famous artist?' We spent a lot of time thinking about ourselves - and all of the physical features and parts of our personalities that make us unique.

Surrealism - We learnt about Surrealist artists such as Joan Miro and Salvador Dali. Then we did a great team building activity where we took turns to add parts to portraits when we couldn't see what had already been drawn - the results were very funny!

Automated Drawing - Surrealist artists created some of their art using a technique called automated drawing. So, we listened to two different types of music and tried to draw without thinking about what we were doing. We listened to happy music first, then sad music. The type of music really changed the outcome of our drawings.

Cubism - We learnt about the Cubist art movement and an artist called Pablo Picasso. We pretended to be Picasso and drew self-portraits in his famous cubist style - and they still looked like us because we considered our facial features very carefully.

Week 1

Literacy - It's the 21st August 1911 and we have just received breaking news that the Mona Lisa painting has been stolen from the Louvre museum in Paris. Our Class 4 reporters are live at the scene, interviewing museum staff, police, artists and tourists before creating a news report. We will keep you updated with the latest developments in this shocking case as soon as we have them...

Science - Barnsley FC are investing in new floodlights to illuminate their football pitch for evening games. They need to find the best conductors for the circuits in their lights , so that the bulbs in the lights shine as brightly as possible. Class 4 were asked to investigate the best electrical conductors and present their recommendations about which material would be the best to use.

Swimming - Lifesaving skills in action!

One family, growing together in love and faith, flourishing in an ever-changing world. We love, we believe, we shine, we achieve.
