Autumn Term 2

Week 7

Well this week has been jam packed with a Pantomime at the local Pentecostal Church, followed by movie night, Christmas Dinner, Christmas Party, Christmas Concert and Christmas card making.  We all joined a live lesson with the Stemhub for a festive planet Christmas decoration session in which the children were taught about the different planets from the scientists who work at the Science centre to make the rockets that go to space.  They then created there own planets on recreated an existing planet based on what they learnt. Brilliant end to the term.

Well done Class 4!

Week 4

In case I haven't mentioned how amazing Class 4 are, they are BRILLIANT!  This week we have worked on understanding and demonstrating our ability to write a precis.  This is quite a tricky concept as the children have to not only understand what has been read, but then retell this in there own words as a summary.  Class 4 did incredibly well, they looked at traditional tales and then there twisted versions using Roald Dahls Revolting Rhymes.  They then wrote a precis based on the story on Kensukes Kingdom so far.  they were fabulous.

Year 5s also took a road trip to St Pius high School as part of a series of taster days, this one had a DT theme.  The children were beautifully behaved and demonstrated excellent manners and maturity.  Well done Class 4!

Week 3

What a fab week!  The children have worked incredibly hard to understand monologues and practice writing them.  They began by writing a joint one in the role of a character from the story Little red Riding Hood.  They then chose either Kensuke or Michael from Kensukes Kingdom and have done brilliantly.

In Geography we have looked at oceans and seas, whilst in RSE we had a joint lesson with some of class 3 to understand puberty and changes to the body.

Well done Class 4!

Autumn 2 Week 2 - Building bridges and testing stability of structures with weights

Autumn 2 - Week 1

This week the children returned to school and began gymnastics and dodgeball in PE.  There skills are really developing and they did some amazing balances in small groups.

Meanwhile, in Literacy and Reading we began our new novel of Kensukes Kingdom by Michael Morpugo.  The children were gripped from chapter 1.  Our aim is to create an accurate character description of a character from the novel.

In math's we have begun our multiplication and division topic.  the children have looked at factors this week as well as factor trees.

Well done Class 4!
