Autumn 2

Week 6

It's been another busy (but fun!) week in Class 5!

After finishing off our assessments, we embraced our inner Christmas elves and got to work finalising all the Christmas treats to go along with our decorated plates!

As well as that, we've kept busy with our work on fractions and our diary writing linked to the Ancient Greeks. We also looked at international time zones in our science lesson linked to Earth and space, thinking about why night and day varies so much across the world.

We ended the week making our Christingles and thinking all about the different elements of them.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Week 3

Week 3 has been another great week in Class 5!

In our history topic, we finished our work on the Ancient Greeks. Everyone was asked to show something they've learnt about Ancient Greek culture or conflict by drawing it in the traditional vase style of this time. The finished designs look fantastic. There are photos so you can take a look for yourself!

In Spanish this week, we learnt phrases to describe daily routines and practised our skills with both listening and speaking exercises.

Lastly, we've started looking at our new RHE unit and this week it was focused around 'Calming The Storm'. We thought about how people show they care, and what it feels like to have faith in others.

Have a brilliant weekend!

Week 2

This week, we've been getting stuck into our story writing. We planned our story, using our knowledge of Ancient Greek mythological creatures, and have been focusing on building tension and using speech marks accurately.

In Maths, we were learning all about different mental calculation methods to help us become more efficient with our skills and see links between number facts.

A highlight of the week has been our badminton PE lesson. Skills have improved a lot even in one week, and we've learnt how to effectively use both forehand and backhand techniques. Check out the photos to see us in action!

Have a great weekend!

Week 1

Class 5 have had a fantastic first week back after half term! We particularly enjoyed starting our new music unit all about the song 'Fresh Prince of Bel Air'. We've managed to learn quite a few of the verses already, and are looking forward to perfecting the rest and adding instruments.

In Literacy, we've started our work on short stories, using the Ancient Greeks as our inspiration. So far, we've focused on skills for character and setting descriptions.

In our new maths unit, we've been focusing on properties of numbers and have been perfecting our knowledge of factors, multiples, prime numbers, square numbers and cube numbers!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

One family, growing together in love and faith, flourishing in an ever-changing world. We love, we believe, we shine, we achieve.
