Week 6
This week Class 1 has done lots of their learning outside! We have been outside learning about length and height at the beginning of the week, using natural resources to discuss similarities and differences. We also started our new topic 'Splendid Skies' by going on a nature walk where were heard lots of different birds. On Friday we had lots of fun toasting marshmallows on a fire! When the marshmallows were cool Miss Olive squished them between two biscuits! They were delicious! Class 1 have really enjoyed being outside this week!
Week 5
This week we have been learning the story 'The Three Billy Goats Gruff'. We used a story map to learn the order of the story and created actions. We retold the story as a performance. We have been using our knowledge of the story in busy time by acting out the story using our puppets, looking at the story book and performing the story for each other.
Week 4
This week we have been learning about adjectives in literacy. We explored our senses and how we could describe different tastes and smells. We tasted sweet, sour and salty. We tasted lemons and limes which made us pull funny faces!
Week 3
This week we have started music lessons which the children are really enjoying. We have been singing familiar nursery rhymes, using instruments and playing musical games. We have also started to learn some GoNoodle dance routines which the children are learning very quickly!
Week 2
This week we learnt about instructions. We created instructions for making porridge. We followed our instructions and made porridge together. Most of us chose a topping and had a taste!
We have also been learning the story of 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar'. We created actions for the story to help us remember it.
Week 1
Welcome back everyone, we hope you enjoyed your Christmas break!
This week our children in class 1 have been getting to know their new class teacher! We have been reading the story Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We know the story so well know that we can retell it using props. We are getting really good at using our voices to show the different characters we are performing. Some of our foundation children have taken the story into their play and have been using the home corner to re-enact the story. Our Year 1 children have be talking about the story and thinking of sentences to write about the story.
