Week 4
In Literacy this week, children have been focusing on verbs and verb phrases. Towards the end of the week children were able to tell Mr Davies what verbs and verb phrases were. As of next week children will go on to identifying the subject of a sentence.
In Maths, children have be focusing on roman numerals, and were able to identify the symbols and what numbers they were.
This week, children have explored a non-fiction text called How Does the Ear work? Class 3 continued to improve on their vocabulary and fluency. However, towards the end of the week children worked on their comprehension skills by answering question about the text.
In PE this week, children have been focusing on dribbling and shooting during their basketball lessons. This will then be transferred into game like situations next week.
In History, children have been learning about the stone age. Children then did their own research and made a fact file about Skara Brae. Once children finished the first task, they were then asked to find the mysteries of the Stonehenge.
In RE children have been learning about Jacob and what his life was like. Class 3 created their own stained glass window based on Jacobs story and what his life was like growing up.

Week 3
In Literacy this week, children have focused on verbs,regular verbs and noun phrases. Children were able to give Mr Davies examples of verbs, regular verbs and noun phrases.
In Maths, children have focused rounding to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000. Children were able to show how numbers can be rounded to the nearest, 10,100 and 1000.
This week, children have explored a fiction text called Hunters-gatherer's. Class 3 continued to improve on their vocabulary and fluency. However, towards the end of the week children worked on their comprehension skills by answering question about the text.
In PE this week, children have been focusing on there fitness and how it is important to have keep healthy. Children were able to do squat jumps around the football court, timed star jumps and high five planks.
In History, children have been learning about the stone age. Children were asked to identify what would be an asset and threat in the stone age. Children then did their own research and made a fact file about Skara Brae.
On Wednesday, children had a fire safety talk by the local fire service. They made children aware on how important it is to be safe around a variety of environments and situations. The class 3 children found this very interesting and were asking a lot of questions.

In Literacy this week, children have focused on common nouns and proper nouns. Children were able to give Mr Davies examples of common nouns and proper nouns.
In Maths, children have focused on place value this week. Year 3 children have learnt about the place value of a 3-digit number and Year 4 children explored the place value of a 4-digit number. Children have also counted in 100s and 1000s when ordering and comparing numbers on a number line.
This week, children have explored a non-fiction text called What is Sound?. Class 3 continued to improve on their vocabulary and fluency. However, towards the end of the week children worked on their comprehension skills by answering question about the text.
This term in science children will be exploring sound. This week children have learnt about how sound travels through the air. Children explored different sounds with musical instruments.
In Art this week, class 3 focused on observational drawing. Children were asked to pick their favourite cuddly toy from home and then they were able to draw their cuddly toy in their art books.

Week 1

In Art this week, children explored how to make paints lighter and darker. Class 3 then painted a lizard, butterfly or a dolphin showing the different shades of paint.
In Literacy this week, children have focused on letter formation and orientation of letters.
In Maths, children have focused on place value this week. Year 3 children have learnt about the place value of a 3-digit number and Year 4 children explored the place value of a 4-digit number. Children have also counted in 100s and 1000s when ordering and comparing numbers on a number line.
In PE this week children have learnt all about basketball and the fundamental rules on how to play.
