Week 6
This week in Class 1 we have been getting ready for Christmas. We are learning The Story of Christmas and some Christmas songs. We have been using our knowledge of shapes and patterns to create our Christmas cards. We also completed our Rudolf Walk on a very rainy Wednesday! We managed to get our wellies on and get walking just as the sun came out! Well done Class 1!
Week 5
During our RE lessons this week we have learnt about the story of Christingle and created our own Christingles in class. We also attended a whole school Christingle via zoom. Our children brought their Christingles home on Friday this week, can they tell you all about their Christingle? What does the orange represent?
Week 4
In Class 1 we have been reading Owl Babies. We talked about the story, the characters and the problem. We have been creating story maps in provision and adding in some simple labels.
In our Maths lessons this week we have been looking at odds and evens and learning how to spot them! We have learnt that even Numberblocks have flat tops and odd Numberblocks have an odd block on top. It is the same with Numicon as well!
Week 3
In our science less this week we have been exploring forces - push and pull. We have discussed objects that require pushing, pulling or both. We have also been looking at how different surfaces change how much an object needs pushing. We used cars and ball to explore this. We also went outside and bounced balls on different surfaces outside. We tried grass, concrete and the wooded area. We talked about how easy it is to bounce a ball on a hard concrete surface compared to something soft, like grass.
Week 2
We have had a very busy week this week! We began our week learning about Remembrance Day and painting poppy pictures. We watched the CBBC Poppies animation.
We have also been learning about Judaism this week and completing lots of different activities linked to this.
Our Year 1 children have been using the Bee Bots in their computing lessons, learning all about directional language.
Week 1
After our half-term break, we welcomed all our Class 1 children back to school. We have had a busy week! We have been creating number lines using numicon and our Year 1 children have been exploring patterns with 6 counters on a 3 by 3 grid.
In our RHE lesson we learnt how God created the world. We linked it to our Collective worship theme - God's Treasure - and thought about all the different treasures God gave us: The Sun, Land, Sea, Daytime and Nighttime and so on. Our children have created pictures of God's treasures He gave us.
