Autumn Term 2

Week 7

 

This week, children have finished reading Georges Marvellous Medicine book. After the Christmas half term children will be reading about the human body. And our class novel will be The Iron Giant by Ted Hughes.  

 

In Literacy this week, children have used their recently developed skills of sentence composure to complete a fact file about France. Children have researched physical and human landmarks in order to complete this.

 

In Maths, children have started to explore multiplication and division. Year 3 have focused on problem solving and Year 4 have explored multiplying and dividing by 10 and 100.

 

Children have very much enjoyed the festivities of this week, completing Christmas art, having our Ks2 Nativity (Cinderella), party food and of course our Christmas parties.

Week 6 

 

This week, children have explored Georges Marvellous Medicine, reading chapter 11 and chapter 12. This is where Mr Kranky wants George to remember the ingredients to grandma’s new medicine so that Mr Kranky can use it to make his farm animals bigger.

 

In Literacy this week, children have continued to identified the subject, verb and ‘leftovers’ within single clause sentences. Children have also used coordinating conjunctions, specifically and, but and so to join clauses.

 

In Maths, children have started to explore multiplication and division. Year 3 are focusing on problem solving and identifying when to use multiplication and division. Year 4 children are exploring multiplying by multiples of 10 and 100

 

In Geography this week, children have learnt how to identify human and physical features. Children have also researched and explored the human and physical features of France.

 

In ICT, children have learnt about the key parts of a laptop and where they are located. Class 3 have also used the internet to find a website and were able to explore all the tools on sketchpad.

Week 5

 

This week, class 3 continued to explore George's Marvellous Medicine in Chapter 8. This week George created a new medicine for grandma. And the children found out what happened to grandma when she took the medicine.

 

In Literacy this week, children have continued to identified the subject, verb and ‘leftovers’ within single clause sentences. Children have also used coordinating conjunctions to extend and develop sentences further.

 

In Maths this week, it was all about multiplication and division. Year 3 focused on 8 times tables, whilst Year 4 took on the challenge of the 9 times tables and dividing by 9.

 

Class 3, created their very own calendars. They explored cool techniques like shading and stippling, making each season come to life on paper.

 

Well done class 3 you have been amazing this week!

Week 4

 

This week, children have explored George's Marvellous Medicine. This week, George has created his new medicine for grandma. Class 3 have explored VIPERS skills throughout the week to strengthen knowledge and understanding.

 

In Design and Technology this week, children have started to design their own castles and ensured that they have got a design specification so when they come to building there castles they will know what to use and how to structure it.

 

In Literacy this week, children have explored regular and irregular verbs, adding ed to learn the last tense of regular verbs and when it is appropriate to double a consonant.

 

In Maths, children have started multiplication and division we have been focusing on 4 and 6times tables and dividing by 4 and 6.

Literacy

Week 3

 

This week, children have explored George's Marvellous Medicine. The children used dictionaries to find definitions of new words to improve their vocabulary.

 

In Design and Technology this week, children have started to design their own castles and ensured that they have got a design specification so when they come to building there castles they will know what to use and how to structure it.

 

In Literacy this week, children have explored regular and irregular verbs, adding ed to learn the last tense of regular verbs and when it is appropriate to double a consonant.

In Maths, children have started multiplication and division we have been focusing on 3 times tables and dividing by 3.

 

In Science this week, children have learnt about reflective surfaces. Children explored varying surfaces around the classroom to complete their very own investigation.

 

Class 3, have also started to make Christmas cards.

Week 2

 

Great job, Class 3! Your efforts during assessment week were truly outstanding.

 

In Design and Technology, the children have been busy creating nets to form 3D shapes, setting the stage for the exciting task of constructing our own castles on Monday.

 

In Mathematics, class 3 have been using the column addition method to work out problem solving questions.

 

In Science, our young scientists delved into the concept of light and dark. It's impressive to see the children grasp the idea that darkness is simply the absence of light.

 

Congratulations, Class 3, on a week filled with hard work and dedication. Wishing you all a delightful weekend ahead!

Art- Designing a castle

Week 1

 

This week, in guided reading children have started reading the book George's Marvellous Medicine and made a prediction about what is going to happen in the story. The children did this by analysing the front cover of the book.

 

In Design and Technology this week, children have explored the structure of a castle, including 3D shapes needed to make the structure.

 

In Literacy this week, children have explored common, proper, collective and partitive nouns within writing. Children have identified key features within writing, applied their knowledge and completed sorting games.

 

In Maths, children have continued to practice column method for addition and subtraction.

 

In Science this week, children have started to explore our new topic of light. Children have explored new vocabulary such as opaque, transparent and translucent.

 

In PE, the children have started to focus on dance and fundamentals. The children worked together in pairs to make up a 3 part dance sequence which was then performed at the end of the lesson.
