HAPPY EASTER!

Week 7

We completed our DT project this week and made our smoothies! We made 2 different smoothies and enjoyed tasting, comparing and evaluating them both. We even designed appealing cartons for our smoothies which we hoped would catch the eye of potential customers if we were to stock our smoothies in supermarkets. 

We've had so much fun during this project and lots of us have tried new foods for the first time! 

Week 6

This week in Music, we used the glockenspiels to explore pitch. We discussed how the shorter bars make a higher sound and the longer bars make a lower sound. We also thought about the timbre of the glockenspiels. Next week we are going to add glockenspiels to the Dragon Song we have been learning. 

Week 5

In DT this week we REALLY enjoyed tasting some more healthy, delicious fruits and vegetables. We began to more deeply consider the taste of each of the individual foods and discuss which flavours we believed complimented one another. We are going to be making our own healthy smoothies soon and we want the final product to be scrumptious! 

We also taste tested some of our leading competitors pre-made smoothies to see what we thought to them. We discussed their consistency, appearance and overall taste.

Parent Afternoon

We had such a brilliant afternoon on Monday as our parents joined us for a craft activity. We made Chinese lanterns to develop our understanding of our current topic of China. We had to follow a set of instructions and carefully weave strips of colourful paper through a template. It was so lovely to be able to show our adults our classroom and share this wonderful activity with them. We hope you all enjoyed it too! 

Week 3

This week we began our new Design & Technology project... FOOD! We began by identifying a range of different fruits and vegetables. Then we were asked the question; "How can you tell the difference between a fruit and a vegetable?" We had lots of interesting responses!

"because fruits are a snack and vegetables aren't"

"you need to cook vegetables but you don't cook fruit"

"you can make juice from a fruit but not from a vegetable" 

Fruits are the part of a plant that contain the seeds. This information really helped us when we had to go and have a look at lots of different foods, name them and categorise them. 

Then came the fun bit... we got to taste LOTS of different fruits! Some of us tried a food for the first time which was really great! We didn't like them all but Miss Mason was very impressed that we gave them a try 

Week 2

Today we celebrated World Book Day! We all dressed up as a favourite book character, and we enjoyed exploring some wonderful stories. 

Week 1

Our new geography topic is about China. We will be learning about where China is in the world; what the main human and physical features are; and comparing London with Beijing. 

We kick-started our topic by making Chinese Dragons which are now hanging in our classroom. We each made one segment of the dragons.
