In our Gospel assembly this week, the children explored and celebrated ‘We are commissioned.’
The children listened to this week’s Gospel –
“The harvest is plentiful, but the labours are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into His harvest.”
Matthew 9:37-38
The children’s wonder question this week is: ‘I wonder how many helpers does God want to share the Good News of His love?
The children thought about when someone important gives a person a very special job to do, we say they are ‘commissioned’. Jesus commissioned His disciples to share the Good News of God’s love. Jesus knew there were many people who still needed to hear about God’s love. So He told His disciples to pray that God would send more helpers.
‘COM’ means together – like communion, when we gather together as the Body of Christ. And ‘MISSION’ means an important task. WE are the helpers that Jesus asked for! When we follow Jesus’ example in all we say and do, we can bring the Good News of God’s love to everyone we meet.
Our Mission for this week is – ‘How can you turn your concern into action? What could you ‘see, think, do’ this week?’
We finished by praying together ‘Come Holy Spirit.’
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful.
And kindle in them the fire of your love.
Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created.
And you will renew the face of the Earth.
In our Gospel assembly this week, the children explored and celebrated ‘Amazing Mysteries: Corpus Christi’
The children started the assembly by thinking about what they needed to live.
We discussed how, on Sunday, On Sunday, the Church celebrated the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, also known as Corpus Christi. Corpus Christi - means ‘the body of Christ’. It’s an amazing mystery that Jesus gives Himself to us in the Eucharist. When we receive Holy Communion (the Eucharist) at Mass, we receive Jesus who makes not just our bodies grow strong, but our souls grow strong too!
The children listened to this week’s Gospel –
‘Whoever feeds on this break will live for ever.’
John 6:58
The children’s wonder question this week is: ‘I wonder how is Jesus, the Bread of Life, in the Eucharist, different from normal bread?
The children reflected on Jesus in the Eucharist, and we listened to part of a communion song ‘Bread of Life’.
The children thought about how we need food and drink to keep our bodies alive and healthy but Jesus offers us much more than food for our bodies — He gives us food to feed our souls – the immortal part of us that never dies and communicates with God. In the Eucharist, Jesus is the ‘Bread of Life’ — the Living Bread that came down from Heaven. With eyes of faith, we believe that Jesus is truly present in the Eucharist, and when we receive Him in Holy Communion, Jesus nourishes us, heals us and sets us free from all the wrong choices we have made. When we receive Holy Communion, we show that we are welcoming Jesus into our lives, and looking forward to when we will live with God forever in Heaven.
Our Mission for this week is – ‘How can you welcome Jesus into your life this week?’
We finished by praying together the Anima Christi:
Soul of Christ, make me holy.
Body of Christ, save me.
Blood of Christ, fill me with your love.
Water from the side of Christ, wash me clean.
Passion of Christ, make me strong.
O Good Jesus, hear me.
Amen

In our Gospel assembly this week, the children explored and celebrated ‘Amazing Mysteries: The Most Holy Trinity!’
We discussed how, on Sunday, the Church celebrated the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity, also known as Trinity Sunday. The Trinity is an amazing mystery – something that is so big and amazing that we can never fully understand it. The Holy Trinity is one of the great mysteries of our faith. On this feast day, the Church celebrates who God is. Christians believe that God is one in three persons - God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit!
The children listened to this week’s Gospel –
‘For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.”’
John 3:16
The children’s wonder question this week is: ‘I wonder why God loves the world so much?’
The children reflected on how the Solemnity of the Holy Trinity reminds us that God is one divine God, yet three unique and equal persons (Father, Son and Holy Spirit). They are united in a perfect relationship of love, and they love us very, very much. God wants us to know and experience His love through each person of the Holy Trinity. The Father sent Jesus to save us, Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to guide us, and the Holy Spirit always leads us back to the loving heart of the Father. We shared how we are invited into this mystery of love whenever we love God and love one another!
Our Mission for this week is – ‘How can we share the love of the Holy Trinity with the people around us?’
We finished by thinking about the Sign of the Cross and how this is a sign of our faith, it declares our faith in God. The words and actions remind us of the three persons of God; the Holy Trinity.
In the name of the Father,
and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit
Amen
In our Gospel assembly this week, the children explored and celebrated ‘Lift Up Our Eyes!’
We explored how the season of Eastertide is a 50 day long celebration of rejoicing from Easter Sunday to Pentecost - when Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to His disciples. During this season we say and sing “Christ is Risen!” and “Alleluia!” to celebrate that Jesus is risen! Because Jesus is alive, we can rejoice during these 50 days and celebrate Jesus, who is the Way, the Truth and the Life.
The children listened to this week’s Gospel –
‘Jesus lifted up His eyes to Heaven, and said, “Father, the hour has come; Glorify your Son that the Son may glorify you, since you have given Him authority over all flesh, to give eternal life to all whom you have given Him.”’
John 17:1-2
The children’s wonder question this week is: ‘I wonder why Jesus prayed for His disciples.’
The children reflected on how Jesus showed us how to pray, and He often went to a quiet place to be with His Father. At a time when Jesus might have been worried or distracted by what He knew would happen to Him, prayer kept Him focussed. We discussed how the more we pray, the closer we grow in friendship with God. Prayer strengthens us to do His work!
Our Mission for this week is – ‘Who can we pray for this week?’
We finished by saying the Act of Hope together…
My God, I hope in you,
for grace and for glory,
because of your promises,
your mercy and your power.
Amen
In our Gospel assembly this week, the children explored and celebrated ‘I’m Here!’
‘I am the Way, the Truth and the Life.”’
John 14:6
The children’s wonder question this week is: ‘I wonder what did Jesus meant when He said, “Whoever has seen me, has seen the Father.”?
The children reflected on how the disciples in the Gospel were searching for God, not realising that He was already there! God is living, moving and breathing in Jesus. If we want to find God, all we have to do is get to know Jesus better. He is the ‘way’ to know God. We get to know our friends by talking to them, asking questions and listening.
Our Mission for this week is – ‘How can you share God’s love this Eastertide through your words and actions?’
We finished our assembly by saying the Our Father together…
Our Father who art in Heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy Kingdom come,
thy will be done
on Earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Amen
In our Gospel assembly this week, the children explored and celebrated ‘Vocation: Abundant Love.’
We explored how we are now in the season of Eastertide - a 50 day long celebration of rejoicing from Easter Sunday to Pentecost - when Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to His disciples.
‘I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.’
John 10:10
Our word of the week is ‘Vocation.’ The children explored what this means.
The children’s wonder question this week is: ‘I wonder how Jesus can help us to live abundant lives - to ‘live life to the full’?
Our Mission for this week is – ‘How can we rejoice this Eastertide by receiving God’s abundant love and loving others through our words and actions.
We finished our assembly by sharing and receiving God’s blessings as we prayed the Act of Love together…
O my God,
I love you above all things, with my whole heart and soul,
because you are all good and worthy of all my love.
I love my neighbour as myself for the love of you.
I forgive all who have injured me
and I ask pardon of all whom I have injured.
Amen.
In our Gospel assembly this week, the children explored and celebrated ‘New Eyes.’
We explored how on Easter Sunday we remember Jesus’ Resurrection. Jesus conquered death and was raised to new life, so that we can be close friends with Him. Eastertide is a 50 day long celebration of rejoicing from Easter Sunday to Pentecost - when Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to His disciples.
During this season we say and sing “Christ is Risen!” and “Alleluia!” to celebrate that Jesus is risen! Because Jesus is alive, we can rejoice during these 50 days and celebrate Jesus, who is (click to reveal) the Way, the Truth and the Life.
The children listened to this week’s Gospel –
‘Then, starting with Moses and going through all the prophets, He explained to them the passages throughout the Scriptures that were about Himself.’
Luke 24:27
Our word of the week is ‘Faith.’ The children explored what this means.
The children’s wonder question this week is: ‘I wonder how the disciples knew that the ‘stranger’ was Jesus?
Our Mission for this week is – ‘How they we follow Jesus, the Way, the Truth and the Life, in faith through our words and actions this week.
We finished our assembly by sharing and receiving God’s blessings as we prayed together…
May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the love of God,
and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit
be with you all.
Amen
In our Gospel assembly this week, the children explored and celebrated ‘Believe and Receive.’
We explored how different celebrations have different amounts of time spent on them. We discussed how Eastertide is a 50 day long celebration of Jesus rising from the dead.
The children listened to this week’s Gospel –
‘Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”’
John 20:29
The children’s wonder question this week is: ‘I wonder why did seeing the Risen Jesus help Thomas to believe?
The children watched a video where Thomas, who at first was unsure, came to rejoice in faith when he met the Risen Jesus and believed in Him.
Our Mission for this week is – ‘How can we rejoice this Eastertide by sharing the blessings of faith and peace with others through their words and actions?’
We finished our assembly by sharing and receiving God’s blessings as we prayed together…
May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ,
and the love of God,
and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit
be with you all.
Amen
