Autumn

Autumn 1

This term, Class 4 has had a fantastic time exploring a wide range of topics across the curriculum. In History, we travelled back in time to learn all about the Shang Dynasty, discovering fascinating facts about ancient Chinese culture, beliefs, and inventions. In English, we focused on writing non-chronological reports, developing our research and organisational skills to present information clearly and effectively. Our Science lessons have been full of hands-on investigations as we explored the topic of forces, learning how pushes, pulls, friction, and gravity affect the world around us. In PE, we’ve been building our teamwork and coordination while learning the rules and techniques of netball. In R.E. this term, Class 4 has been learning about the family of Jesus and how his life was shaped by his Jewish heritage. We explored key figures in Jesus' family tree and learned about the importance of family in both his life and the wider Christian faith. The children discussed what family means to them and compared their own experiences with the traditions and values found in Jesus’ time. We also looked at stories from the Bible that show how Jesus cared for others and treated everyone with kindness and respect. This has helped us to reflect on how we can show love and compassion in our own lives, both at school and at home. It’s been a busy and exciting term full of learning, discovery, and fun!

Autumn 2

This term, Class 4 has enjoyed a rich and varied learning journey, rooted firmly in our Catholic life. In P.E., pupils have developed strength, balance and confidence through gymnastics, while in literacy they have focused on writing clear and effective instructions. In maths, the children have been building fluency and problem-solving skills through multiplication and division, and in science they have explored the states of matter, carrying out observations and investigations to deepen their understanding. In R.E., Class 4 has reflected on the season of Advent, thinking carefully about waiting, hope and preparation for the coming of Jesus. The Catholic life of the class continues to be at the heart of everything we do, with regular prayer, reflection and weekly Celebrations of the Word, where pupils have the opportunity to gather, listen to scripture and grow together in faith as a supportive and respectful community.

One family, growing together in love and faith, flourishing in a diverse and ever-changing world. We love, we believe, we shine, we achieve.
