Welcome to the Early Years Foundation Stage at St Michael’s and All Angels Catholic Primary School
At St Michael’s and All Angels, our Early Years Foundation Stage provides a caring, nurturing and faith-filled environment where every child is welcomed as a unique and precious child of God. We are committed to supporting children as they begin their school journey, helping them to feel happy, secure and confident as they take their first steps into school life.
Our EYFS class is taught through a job-share between Mrs Miller at the beginning of the week and Mrs Levick at the end of the week. Together, we bring nearly 40 years of teaching experience, having taught hundreds of primary-aged children. We work extremely closely as a team to ensure consistency, continuity and the very best educational experiences for every child.
Rooted in our Catholic faith and Gospel values, learning in EYFS is carefully planned to support each child’s spiritual, social and academic development through play, exploration and purposeful learning. We place great importance on building strong relationships with children and families, recognising parents as a child’s first educators.
The Curiosity Approach
Within our EYFS setting, we strive to incorporate elements of the Curiosity Approach to inspire awe, wonder and deep engagement in learning. Our classroom environment is thoughtfully designed to be calm, inviting and rich in meaningful resources that encourage children to explore, question and think creatively. Through open-ended activities, real-life objects and child-led learning opportunities, we nurture curiosity, independence and a genuine love of learning, allowing each child to learn at their own pace and follow their interests.
We look forward to working in partnership with you and supporting your child as they grow, learn and flourish at St Michael’s and All Angels
