Spring 2

Week 3 - 10th March

This week we listened to a story from one of our favourite authors, Julia Donaldson.  We read "Monkey Puzzle".  In the story the little Monkey loses its Mum.  The butterfly comes to help her find her Mum but it isn't easy.   We tried really hard to learn the Monkey Puzzle song too along with the makaton actions.

Use the links to listen to the story and sing along with Julia Donaldson.

We used our hand prints to create our own cheeky monkeys.  We printed our hand for the body and then practiced our cutting skills to cut out the face.  We painted a curly tail and stuck on some googly eyes.  We think they look incredible and have been added to our Monkey Puzzle window display.

The 5th of March marked the beginning of Lent.  We have enjoyed sharing our Lenten Bags and records with each other.  As part of Lent we are all participating in The Big Lent Walk.  Each day, after registration, we have ventured into the big yard to complete as many laps as we can.  We have had lots of fun and have clocked up so many kilometers already.  Take a look at my sticker when I come home to see how many meters I have walked each day.

If you would like to support our Big Lent Walk for CAFOD you can.  Details are available on Class Dojo.  Thank you to everyone who has already given generously.

Week 2 - 3rd March

This week our story was called "I'm thinking of a pet"  We had to listen to the animal description and make a prediction.  We were very good at listening to the clues and got most of the animals right.

We played an animal noises game this week too.  We listened carefully to the noise of an animal and then we had to name the animal.  It was lots of fun.  Why not play at home using the link.

In RE we have been learning about the Eucharist.  We have been thinking about all the different times we gather together.  We discussed how it makes us feels.  We all agreed that we enjoy spending time with others, playing games and having fun.  Sometimes it is nice to be alone, but we much prefer to be together with our family and friends.

In our Ten Ten lessons we have been learning about how we have grown and changed.  The things we did as babies are different to the incredible things we can do now.  We don't need some of the things that babies need, such as nappies, bottles and dummies.  Now we eat using cutlery and drinking from cups.  We have grown lots too, which means we are able to walk, run and jump.

Week 1 - 24th February

This half term our main topic theme is Amazing Animals.  We will be learning lots about the different animals across the world.  We will explore which animals live on farms, those living in the wild and which animals make amazing pets.

To start us off on our topic we read the famous book "Dear Zoo" by Rod Campbell.  We really enjoyed the story and lifting up the flaps to see what animal was sent next.

In math we have been collecting and comparing groups of objects.  We have been using the vocabulary words "more than" "less than" and "the same" to describe the collection we have made.

You can help develop this key skill at home by asking me to make two different collections and helping me to compare them.

One family, growing together in love and faith, flourishing in a diverse and ever-changing world. We love, we believe, we shine, we achieve.
