In the late autumn term, the children in Class 1 continue to grow in confidence as they deepened their friendships and strengthened their sense of belonging within the school community. They explored a range of diverse celebrations linked to light and dark, learning about different festivals and traditions and sharing their own experiences, which supported respect and understanding of others. The children enjoyed noticing changes in the season as autumn turns to winter, observing shorter days, colder weather and changes in the natural environment through outdoor learning and seasonal activities. These shared experiences encouraged curiosity, discussion and cooperation, helping the children to build positive relationships while developing an awareness of the world around them.
Celebrations
We explored stories about celebrations such as 'Binny's Diwali' by Thrity Umrigar and The Nativity. We noted the similarities and differences between cultures, their celebrations and how they share a common belief.
